20 New Things – Your Challenge

Challenge yourself

If you have a been a previous reader of Jennifer’s Review you know by now the site has been sold. It’s gone, moved on to better hands and I now keep my passion for wine a bit more private. It was a fun time writing about wine, writing in general and meeting some great people at great companies along the way!

My next venture is to write a book. Seems like it should be an easy move going from 5 years of writing on a blog to creating a simple book right? Wrong. Writing online and book writing are 2 different things and in my case, I’m not writing about wine in my book. It’s a whole new direction and I am looking forward to letting out my fun creativity as well as my story telling abilities.

That is of course until I sat down to write.

It seems that after I sold Jennifer’s Review and gave myself a bit of time to relax from writing, I’m having a hard time adjusting to writing again. What do you do when you have writer’s block? In my case, I have full blown creativity block.

Change and creativity has always gone hand in hand for me. It seems when you step outside your usual box, you have new perspectives on things. The key is to move forward, see things in new ways, experience new things and I believe it will always lead you to some unexpected fun adventure. With that said, I’m going to try and do 20 new things within the next 20 weeks.

20 weeks?!?! Seems like a long time … and I agree, it is. Let’s face it, we’re all busy … so trying 1 new thing each week for the next 20 weeks should make the task simple.

Here’s the challenge I propose:

20 new things

Each week find one new thing to do. Here are a few ideas that are simple but can count as “new things” in the #20NewThings Challenge.

  • Take a different route to work one week
  • Cooking a new meal
  • Try a new activity
  • Do something alone / by yourself (movie, dinner, new hobby)
  • Do something with a group of people you never met
  • Call that person you haven’t spoken to years
  • Reach out to 5 LinkedIn connections

… the list of ideas goes on.

I am personally going to try some new creative outlet or activity. Have no idea what those things will be yet, but the world is open! Will you join me?

Each week I’ll be posting my new something here on my blog. You can follow me on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook if you wish. I’ll be using the hashtag #20NewThings if you want to participate! I would love to see what new things you’ll come up with!

This week is Week one ….. what new thing will you do?

    Hey Jennifer,

Great thoughts. We do forget sometimes how cool a few changes could be!
Its all out there, we just need to come forward and embrace them.
