One of the things I love about Milwaukee and Madison is the opportunity to meet some great local people. With our close proximity to Chicago and with Madison, WI being a host to biotech companies and technology companies – all with a dash of start-ups – I love the people I get to meet here.
My next interview is with Michael Phelps of Phelps Research Services. Michael Phelps, is Vice President of Research and LinkedIn Trainer at Phelps Research Services. He is also a Public Speaker on LinkedIn and it’s strategic uses for sales. Actually, I would say more of a LinkedIn Guru! I met Michael through LinkedIn sometime back and our networking relationship has grown. He has grown so much in fact that Michael will be quoted in Fortune magazine in an upcoming article.
A few days ago I had an opportunity to read John C. Dvorak’s post on PCMAG.com tittled “9 reasons E-mail is dead”. This grabbed my attention…. with all the fan fare of Social Media that includes, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and LinkedIn it’s easy to feel this way. I however, found the author’s comments not reality to a well done email campaign.
So you have an account on LinkedIn, you’ve connected with your co-workers and even filled out your education background. You have your profile 100% complete, now what do you do?
One of my classes that I teach is solely on the use of LinkedIn and how to apply this to your business. It’s one thing to fill out all the sections on your profile and bring it to “100% completness” and it’s quite another to half heartedly fill out the sections that are “easy” and don’t require much thought. The effort you put into either of these options are what will be left in the mind of those viewing your profile.
