I Think I Had My A-Ha Moment today..

tired workout, workout picture, tired women on bikeToday I realized …. during a tough workout for me (with Bayer Performance Institute), that I was unintentionally focusing on the pain of the experience. It was hard to lift those weights, it hurt, it burned … I didn’t really think my arms could take more. Then it hit me … why was I focusing on the negative of the right now? Why was I even focusing on the right now and giving it any importance? The right now just gets me to the future achievement or the end result. So I instead focused on the positive of the right now which was the end acheivement. (Being done with the workout, a leaner look, calories burned)

It helped, I became a bit stronger because I wasn’t giving so much attention to the pain, the soreness, the “jelly legs”, etc. I was focusing on the end and happiness I would know by accomplishing my workout achievement.

Sometimes I think we focus on the negative issues in our life so much that it becomes our end result. So my A-Ha moment is … I think I’m going to try and start focusing on the end result. That new car, that final bill paid, the vacation, the nice BBQ grill, the shopping spree for clothes a size smaller, CEO of your own company … whatever goal your work leads you to, I think that needs to be the focus, not the initial hard work and “why me” type of attitude of the now. Keep looking to the future!

Just a thought ….
