Real Estate, Real Estate, Real – a – what?

by Jennifer Stinnett on June 7, 2009

It’s been some time since I’ve posted – things have changed for me in the fact that I now have a full time job as Director of Relocation for Coldwell Banker – Success in Madison, WI. It’s a great group of people in a great city! Occasionally, you’ll start to see some posts here on activities and things going on in Madison, WI. Hope you enjoy the fun!

In the meantime, I wanted to share a great blog by Seth Godin. Seth’s insights, I have found, are very appropriate to any business … including real estate. I recently read his latest post called: Your boring. His post is below:

Your Boring:
Sorry, someone had to say it.
Your products are predictable. Your insights are recycled. You don’t bring surprise with you when you enter a room. That’s why people are ignoring you.
Which used to be fine, because you could just buy attention for your brand or your company or your sales efforts. But that half-price sale on attention is now over.
The only path left is to lean out of the edge and become interesting, noteworthy and yes, remarkable.

I think this applies to all businesses today … even real esate. My previous work experience has been working within independant brokerages. Now that I am part of the Coldwell Banker family – I’m very pleased to see the Social Media steps this company is taking. One recent addition is the Coldwell Banker YouTube channel. It’s going to be fun to see how this helps boost business and the Coldwell Banker brand.

While Coldwell Banker has the power and means to create some impressive things within Social Media, that’s what’s great ABOUT Social Media — you can do the same! New creations of websites, technology, blogs and the list goes on ….. allows everyone to be on the same playing field; branding you, your business and yourself.

So now …. in the meantime I ask this question of you?? — what are you doing to be non-boring?
